Caretaker/Volunteers needed in Rain Forest,Bamboo, Cacao, Organic Farm (Guapiles,Limon)

Hello there. We are currently looking for someone(or a couple) that would be interested in helping us take care of our farm.

Who we are....

We are a 100hectare all organic farm stationed in the old growth forests of the carribean highlands. We are not your normal beach-tourism town area. we are remote yet surrounded by life of the old growth forests. We have hiking trails on our property and 3000hectares of Costa Rican Reserve attached to our place. A small section of our land is segregated to the production of bamboo, cacao, pineapple and other easily adapted fruits and veggies of our zone. mainly for personal consumption however the local demand for organic goods has increased to the point were we are intersted in expanding our vegetable gardens to sale for the public. We also have many ongoing projects on the farm like earth plastering, bamboo building, garden maintenance, animal caretaking etc. Our electricity comes from our own hydro turbines and there is a large pond to enjoy for swimming and relaxing.

You are...

A very responsible and caring person (or couple)who cares deeply and respects the forests and all its inhabitants. Able to do minimal tasks around the farm maintaining upkeep. Ideally interested in beginning new projects around the farm like chicken tractoring, goats, expanding our gardens, some bamboo furniture, earth plastering etc. we have lots of interesting things to do and lots of space for you to enjoy personal creativity. We are looking for a minimum of 3mnths commitment in exchange for room, board and free electricity. We are constantly on the go with our bamboo and plaster business and need someone responsible and caring to care for our animals and beautiful land while we come and go. if this interests you please email and lets talk further on the subject.
we need your help

Hello, My name is Wayne Mercier. My wife and I live in New Concord. We raised calves for about 8-9 years on our small farm. This past summer I became ill with a liver disease. I'm not able to keep up with our farm any longer, we sold and auctioned off almost eveything we could.

I dont have any health insurance. We went to Jobs & Family Services & applied for SSDI. Tamara my wife is working as many hours as she can, her pay just doesn't cover all of our bills and buy food, toiletries and other items needed to live.

Someone set up a benefit account in hopes of getting people to donate what they can to help us out. I am posting this in hopes of finding others out here who are willing and able to donate what they can to help us pay on these medical bills, everyday bills and buy food. Even just a few dollars would help.

Any kind of donations would be greatly appreciated. The benefit account is set up at the New Concord Huntington National Bank under "Wayne Mercier Benefit Account" account # ending with these last four digits (5366)
Bank manager "Derrick Gingerich" (740) 826-4455
If you would like to speak to me personally, call (740) 260-6619

We feel bad asking for help, but dont know any other way.
Wayne Mercier.
Im asking anyone in this world who is able and willing to give us a helping hand with all of this medical costs.
I understand God works through people, but the state and goverment has turned me down for any help.
If you or you know of someone who can donate any amount, please do so.
I will be so thankful for what I can get.
Thank you.

Director Wanted at Providencia Learning Center (Providencia de Dota)

We are looking for individuals who want to spend some time away from the typical rush of life, and supplement a learning environment for underprivileged children in Costa Rica.

Our organization is a Not for Profit volunteer based learning experience, that allows our volunteers the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge toward learning based environment while helping others. The Providencia Learning Center is a school located 50km from San Jose in the village of Providencia. Situated in the mountains, Providencia is a farming community with very little educational opportunity. We have started our organization in the heart of this community to educate, and to provide opportunities for the students as they grow. We provide secondary education from grade 7 to grade 12 for individuals in our community. We are developing a Continuing education ESL program for the adults in our community as well as a preparatory ESL program for students in the primary public school. Our curriculum is English based and performed primarily on personal computers; however, we are looking to expand our base toward vocational education. Teachers supplement learning through curriculum developed by the school as well as practical application.

Our organization provides a learning opportunity for young BA recipients just starting their careers as well as students pursuing degrees in higher education. We are flexible with experience, but high moral values and a Baccalaureate degree is required. We ask for a 3 month commitment toward teaching but have volunteers staying for 6 months and 12 months. Our Executive Director lives in the village and has frequently aided in continuing education through internships and continuing education credits through U.S. Universities. You must have permission from your School’s Dean to qualify for this opportunity.

Our prime candidate will have one or more of the following:

Minimum Education requirement: BS/BA
Our preference is a degree with an education or educational background with multidisciplinary expertise.

We currently need a Director of Education:

This candidate will have strong skills in organization, administration, curriculum development, student success testing and analysis. Must be able to act as the principal of the school and work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and School Founders while managing the school and teachers. Knowledge of community planning is valuable but not required.

We currently need teachers for the following positions:

Math
Science, Ecology
Art/Music/Theatre
Computer Science
Social Sciences/Geography
Ethics
Vocation
Athletics instructor: Expert in rock climbing; experience in mountaineering, hiking, trail development and route setting. Soccer and other team sports would be a benefit.

As we retain a small staff of volunteers, versatility is a must. Please let us know how you can contribute to the betterment of the community.

Our students are avid rock climbers and we desire to strengthen our rock climbing team. We were the 2008 National Champions in our respective age divisions and anticipate placing very high again this year at nationals.

Desired Characteristics

A strong desire to help others
Honesty
Commitment
Drug and Alcohol free
Strong vocational skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong communication skills
Strong work ethic
Outdoor eco-friendly attitude
Rock climbers

As we are a Not for Profit organization, we can not compensate for your travel or for your service to the community. It is our experience that expenses for travel vary but average around $400.00 U.S. round trip. We do provide the opportunity to live in our volunteer cabin or to live with a host family in the community. We provide the room and meals while you are volunteering for our organization at no cost to you. You will have ample opportunity to learn about the culture, speak Spanish, swim, hike, and rock climb in the mountains. Our school is isolated in a rural jungle region of Costa Rica and is far from much larger cities. Isolation is part of our community, but social integration within the community will assure that you will not be lonely.

If you are interested in this wonderful learning opportunity please contact us.

Farm caretaker/volunteer needed (guapiles)

Are you heading back state-side for the holidays? I lived in Costa Rica for 5 months in 2008-2009, and I've been storing a few boxes of belongings at a friend's place since I left the tropical paradise. :-) I'm looking to get the rest of my things back before Christmas, and I'm hoping someone might be traveling back and have extra room in a suitcase or an extra "checked bag" spot for me.

I'm living in South Florida so could meet you at West Palm Beach, Miami, or Fort Lauderdale airports, and I have family in Wisconsin (Milwaukee & Appleton), so if you're traveling to any of those locations, perfect! If not, I can Paypal you money to send the bag to me via US Mail or FedEx - whatever's easier and cheapest!

Email me if you think you can help! Thanks!

Nicaragua hotel needs sales/marketing help for free accommodation (San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua)

We are a small hotel group in Nicaragua.. we have one small hotel (Aventura Lodge), we have just opened another one (Surf Zone) which is a surf lodge, and we also have a villa overlooking one of the best surf breaks in Central America.

Please check out www.surfzoneresorts.com for more information. This website, and the Aventura Lodge and Surf Zone websites it links to are still being developed but it gives a good idea of what we are about.

What we are primarily looking for is people very well connected in Costa Rica and the USA / Canada with Sales or Marketing skills.

We are especially interested in targeting people planning their vacation from North America (probably adventurous people, and potentially interested in surfing). Also we are targeting people planning their 3-day visa run from Costa Rican (we are only 20km from the Costa Rica border).

We are marketing professionals by trade but we have very limited time available. What we are particularly interested in is someone that is able to generate considerable sales volumes (a pseudo travel agent if you like), and / or significant volumes of relevant inbound links to improve SEO.

We are unable to pay for this work, but what we can offer is free vacation accommodation in exchange for demonstrable RESULTS. We will not offer accommodation for ineffective effort. The length of stay would depend on the volume of results generated but a free 2-week stay for considerable results seems feasible. This is a remote role and does not require the chosen candidate(s) to physically be here. In fact we don't have space for someone to be here permanently. Students could consider this a fantastic project to kick off their working career (we would be willing to provide references in the future). Sales or Marketing professionals might consider this to be an interesting project to help a new hotel group struggling to survive in a difficult part of the world. The offer of free vacation accommodation might also be of interest.

We have limited time available, so no time-wasters please. This is a genuine offer, so please only contact us if you feel you have the necessary Sales or Marketing skills. We would very much appreciate the help.

Please respond to this post providing us with an outline of how you could help us and what results you feel you could generate.

Many thanks,
